Summer Community Funday

On Sunday the 3rd of July we held a community Funday at our scout hut. This event was open to all members of our group as well as an open invitation to all members of our local community including local schools, churches, residential homes and neighbours.

We were lucky enough that the sun shone throughout the day encouraging more visitors to take part in many activities and visit our stalls, making the event such a success.

The Funday included stalls selling ice cream, tuckshop, candyfloss, cream teas and a bar providing a selection of soft drinks. Visitors were able to have their face painted, get a glitter tattoo, and have a bounce on the bouncy castle (with thanks to Chew Valley Inflatables), as well as taking a chance to win one of many raffle prizes (many thanks to everyone who donated a raffle prize). Visitors had the chance to create a keepsake of the day by popping into the ‘Ultimate Party Booth’ and taking away a photograph(Thanks to Ultimate Party Booths).

Traditional ‘fete’ style games were part of the day and included coconut shy, hook a duck, open the door, hoop la, splat the rat and wacky wire with a selection of prizes available.

Thanks to Reptilians South West visitors also had the chance to get up close and personal with a few cold blooded creatures including snakes, lizards and chameleons.

The community Funday was a huge success for our scout group, we saw lots of familiar faces as well as seeing many new faces at the event. However, the most popular of our visitors were Peppa Pig and Stuart the minion who had time to stop and pose for pictures with members of the community that attended the event.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all people involved in making our community Funday a huge success. Those who helped run stalls on the day, helped with planning and setting up, those who donated any items towards our raffle, prizes and bric – a – brac, and those who leant us equipment to run the stalls.

We would like to thank everyone who attended our Funday and supported our scout group. We hope to see you all again next year!
